RULE OF THIS EBOOK: This material was written for three audiences: pregnant women and women trying to conceive, who will find here an understanding of what happens in their own body and in the baby's body; family members, who want to support this journey; and health professionals, who will find doses, forms, formulas and references, within the legal limits of each profession.
Every strategy described here complements prenatal care. Nothing replaces obstetric follow-up, routine tests and vaccines.
All supplementation must be individualized, prescribed by a licensed professional and reported to the obstetrician.
Medications mentioned (such as acetylsalicylic acid, levothyroxine or antiemetics) require a medical prescription exclusively and appear only for context.
Doses and compounded formulas are not guidance for self-medication: they depend on clinical assessment, lab tests and follow-up.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: For pregnant women and families, it is material for understanding, which does not constitute a prescription, diagnosis or individual therapeutic guidance and does not replace prenatal care or a consultation with a legally licensed professional. All supplementation in pregnancy must be individualized, prescribed by a licensed professional and communicated to the obstetrician. No medication in use should be stopped or changed without a decision by the attending physician. Warning signs (bleeding, loss of fluid, severe abdominal pain, severe headache, visual changes, sudden swelling, reduced baby movements) require immediate medical assessment.
Sources and method
- How this material was built: the content combines the author's clinical practice in functional prenatal nutrition with a review of the scientific literature on perinatal nutrition, fetal programming, micronutrients, nutraceuticals and environmental toxicology.
- Module 29 brings together 116 scientific references, numbered in the order in which they appear in the text and grouped by the module in which they are first cited, with title and link.
- The evidence tags are those of Table 2 of the e-book (page 11):
- [MA] Meta-analysis or systematic review (includes Cochrane): highest strength
- [ECR] Randomized controlled trial: high strength
- [OBS] Observational study (cohort, case-control): moderate strength; shows association, not cause
- [EXP] Experimental study in animals or in the laboratory: preliminary
- [CL] Consensus, guideline or position of a scientific society: guidance
- [PA] The author's clinical practice: clinical experience
